NICOLA LYONS

Nicola

Fiddle, Vocals, Feet

Nicola began her playing career with Fosbrooks in Stockport. For three years she was in a successful duo with accordionist and pianist, Jamie Schofield, which included performances at many festivals worldwide, as well as two recordings. Nicola is currently a dancer with The Demon Barbers, who won the 2009 BBC Folk Award for “Best live act.”

JIM MOLYNEUX

Jim

Keys, Accordion, Vocals

Jim played percussion from the age of seven, and soon took up the piano and accordion. Later on, he became a pupil at Chethams school of Music. In 2008, Jim made it to the final of the BBC Young Musician of the Year on percussion, televised on BBC2 to 1.1 million people. He also plays in several other side projects; notably Seerauber Jenny, with Neil Claxton of Mint Royale fame, and is a member of Turkish folk musician Dogan Mehmet's band: “The Deerhunters.” He currently studies at the RNCM in Manchester.

JAMES MEADOWS

James

Banjo, Mandola

James has been inerested in music from an early age. At the age of six he learnt the violin at school. As a teenager, James  taught himself to play the mandolin, which led to the banjo, which he now considers to be his first instrument. In 2006, at the age of sixteen, James was a semi finalist in the BBC Young Folk Awards. Although not officially studying it, he continues to work hard at his music.

DAN DAY

Dan

Percussion, Vocals, Piano

Dan started playing percussion when he was three years old. He attended Chethams School of Music and sang with the Kinder Children’s Choir of the High Peak. Dan was also a percussion category finalist of the 2008 BBC Young Musician of the Year. Since the BBC competition, the Manchester Drum Centre (in connection with Yamaha drums and Zildjian cymbals) gave Dan the opportunity to perform a short set to open a drum clinic with the established American session drummer Russ Miller. Dan went down a storm to an audience of 200 eager drummers.
He is now studying at The Royal College of Music in London.
